Russ Bohaty talking about sweet Carly's toughest race | RussBohaty.com

Hey Everyone,

Some great stories taking place out there. The people involved proving once again why Auto Racing is the sport without compare. I don't know where to start because you feel like you are slighting who do you don't lead with.

Team Carly Q

Little Carly is one of ?far less than 100 children on the planet and under 20 in the United States to be afflicted with Progeria. This condition causes accelerated aging. Those who have it fight a mighty battle for time and life. My friend Mike is a mega Kasey Kahne fan and Carly is his cousin's daughter. ?I want to mention her and the great work being done on her behalf through the Progeria Research Foundation. ? Mike told me that Carly's family gets financial help for her very costly medical needs and they work with her to make sure she gets in on the latest potential treatments.. ?Mikes says She's a playful, sweet, happy little girl with lots of spirit. ?You can see it in the photos. ? If there is anything you can do as far as contributing money to the foundation, the web address is ?http://teamcarlyq.com/donate-progeria-research-foundation?(linked) It also helps just to talk about Carly on social media like facebook and twitter to raise awareness. ?She likes new friends and you can go to her facebook page and say hi too.

By all means, take these links and post them on your websites, facebook pages, and your twitter tweets. (jeez, I can't believe how far I have come with the computer lingo) Everything matters, no matter what it is.

Mike told me that he got in touch with folks close to Kasey Kahne about contributing items for a fund raiser and heard back so quickly pledging items, it was like he had reached out to family for help. ?Let me say this, Kasey doesn't need me telling the world what a quality guy he is. His family, friends and fans already know it. He takes his fans very seriously and he has a super heart for people. This is a great example of his strong belief that his fans are family and his devotion to them. I mention it because it makes me proud. The best is yet to come for him on and off that track.

Kasey Kahne's Racing Passion

We talked about Kasey's wild accident in the World of Outlaws race a few weeks ago right here in this magazine. One of the really interesting aspects of the story is how frequently NASCAR Sprint ?Cup Series elite's like Kasey participate in circuits that aren't as well recognized nationally. ?Many non-race fans find this practice odd. ?They often note that it would seem scary to sponsors and team owners who need them in one piece for the mega dollar events that get all the broadcase coverage. ?My friend Angie from VictoryK (the best Kasey Kahne fan site on earth) brought this item to our attention a few weeks ago. Link to the discussion on the topic and the article discussing the practice. Tony Stewart is the featured racer and when it comes to being defiant and blunt, can't think of anyone better.

Kevin Durant caused a big stir among basketball fans with his participation in a pick up game at New York's legendary Rucker Park Playground last week. Race fans yawned.

It is no different than seeing Kevin Durant, NBA star, play pick up ball last week right? Nope. Racing is so varied with dirt, road, oval and types of cars like like sprint cars, stock cars, drag racing, formula 1, etc. When Kasey Kahne goes to World of Outlaws, it is for the intense competition and passion. He is just one of many Racers trying to get a win. Sure he's Kasey Kahne, but on any track that entitles him to nothing but what other Racers have: a chance to compete and win. Like Tony Stewart said in Angie's article, Racers are about racing and the wins are coveted in all types of races. Not just the ones Sunday afternoons on Fox. They grew up racing for the love and that still carries the day. Team owners and sponsors know this when they take a racer into the fold. You can't tell a racer not to race.

Speaking of Racing and Passion.....

Brad Keselowski winning at Pocono with this:

?

Me talking about how tough Racers are really is like me commenting on the wetness of tap water.
